'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith resumes contest with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he remembers the nail-biting closing stages of his team's epic comeback victory against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The game wrapped up with Galbraith briefly donning a supporter's spectacles after the post-goal scrum.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith cracked the upright with a speculative effort from 25 yards, and Cameron Burgess immediately converted the rebound before charging toward the home end to revel in the moment, with the crowd mobbing the players.

Remarkable Recovery

The result sealed an extraordinary recovery given the Welsh side had been behind 2-0 midway through the second half. During the euphoria, there was some minor mishaps. The midfielder recalled, "There was a supporter sort of calling out and Josh Key and I were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're humans, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

The result secured a upcoming game at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, a team Galbraith came close against at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. The athletic midfielder had arguably the best view when Orient took the lead in stunning style, with a teammate's long-range effort from about 45 yards going in via the woodwork and the Stefan Ortega. It seems unfair that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've given it to him for taking the effort on from that distance," commented Galbraith, who played in the middle before switching to right wing-back after they changed formation. That meant facing off against City's winger, with whom he swapped shirts, and the attacker was among the opposition who praised the way his former team approached the match.

Opponent's Class

"Fitness-wise they are outstanding but even the basics and routine actions, they can just perform consistently," Galbraith says. "It feels like they complete every delivery and they are adept at dictate and neutralize a game. You can think you're holding your own and then abruptly they will just fizz a pass through a line without you even noticing. You have to be focused every second of the game. It demands a resilient mindset and attention just to remain competitive."

New Chapter

Swansea were keen on Galbraith in January and secured his signature to secure him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He made a name as a crowd pleaser across multiple campaigns at Leyton Orient and has swiftly replicated that in Wales. At his previous team he joined forces once more with the coach, who earlier gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in professional games on loan at his loan club from United. Then came a spell at League Two Salford, before he moved on from Old Trafford.

Development Path

"I was probably a slightly green going into men's football. I think many athletes would say youth team games is completely distinct. Sometimes it appears possession is exchanged without serious challenge. There are limited tackles or duels. Once you start playing men's games you have to adapt rapidly."

International Recognition

He has demonstrated that growth for both domestically and internationally, performing well for Northern Ireland, who are fighting to qualify for the World Cup next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has featured in the recent fixtures, including home and away fixtures against the German national team. The ex-coach, Galbraith's previous international manager, gave him the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he handles the football and his knack for a killer pass.

Humble Beginnings

This represents quite the ride for the youngster from the local area in Glengormley, just outside the capital, who grew up watching his dad, his father, also a engine room operator, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Manchester United Experience

The player's only game for United came in the away trip in 2019, a European competition trip to the Kazakh capital, where they played on an synthetic surface and the venue ceiling was shut owing to temperatures of bitter cold. "It was a extended travel and it was chilly," he says, smiling. "The days leading up, the academy prospects worked out jointly, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to accompany the senior squad and make an appearance at the end was incredible."

Moving On

How difficult was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he transferred from aged a teenager? "The decision proved fairly simple, because I reached the point where I knew I couldn't establish myself at the senior squad. I'm very appreciative for the years at the club but it reached a stage where I felt I required a fresh start, drop down the leagues and play men's football. Now I'm steadily working my way back up."

Welsh Adaptation

It is the early part of the afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has an appointment at 5pm: a driving theory test, another step towards getting on the road. Until recently to the local area, the young professional was a constant rider in Swansea's dubbed player transport, a small coach driven by team personnel, Pete and Howard, which transports players to and from training and matches.

"It's myself the Portuguese player, the Brazilian, the midfielder – Melker Widell used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's pleasant to spend time with the lads but I'm hoping to be the following person out of the minibus and driving. His teammate is known for his humor; he's frequently playing tricks."

Supporter Connections

When he represented his former club, Galbraith would mix with fans on public transport after commuting at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
